Howard Brofsky passed away on October 17th, 2013 at the age of 86. This concert will be a celebration of a life lived well. Dr. Bebop lived music, loved music and studied music always. One of his favorite endeavors was to turn us on to fresh and exciting recordings, especially those of Lester Young, Dexter Young and Louis Armstrong, artists who epitomize the essence of swing and nuance. One of his favorite endeavors was to turn us on to fresh and exciting recordings, especially those of Lester Young, Dexter Young and Louis Armstrong, artists who epitomize the essence of swing and nuance. Music resonates with memories; this year, we remember Howard in a musical tribute. Many guest artists have been invited to participate in this event, to present a composition (and a story) honoring his memory. It will be an evening to remember a few of Dr. Bebop's greatest lessons - Never forget the melody, swing hard and always remember your friends.
